Transportation Guidance
St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish School does not provide transportation, however we will support local school districts with the implementation of their policies including social distancing when boarding and exiting the bus, the wearing of masks, and reinforcing assigned seating.
Whether school is in session remotely or otherwise, pupil transportation will be provided to nonpublic, parochial, private, charter schools or students whose Individualized Education Plans have placed them out of district whose schools are meeting in in-person sessions.
All students are entitled to transportation by their local public school district to the extent required by law. Transportation departments do not have the ability or the right to deny transportation for children who are in foster care, homeless or attend private or charter schools. Parents who may have missed the due date to request out of district transportation due to a reasonable excuse may file a 310 appeal with the Commissioner of Education.
St. Kateri Tekakwitha Students who arrive by bus will disembark in the bus driveway (next to the Main Building playground) and be met by a staff member. Students will follow social distancing protocols.
Health checks will be conducted (temperature screening and health questionnaire). Students who do not have the questionnaire will be isolated until the health questionnaire is completed by the family.
Students who are bussed home will meet in the Art Room for dismissal, seated in a socially distanced manner. Teachers will make sure masks are worn when students are dismissed and load the bus according to the local school districts’ policies (e.g. loading from the back, assigned seats, etc.)
